Oshkosh police say 'Sorry' for trampling citizens' rights in door-to-door gun confiscations.

Oshkosh, Wis. -- In what appears to be an admission of wrong-doing by the Oshkosh Police Department, Fox 11 WLUK (Green Bay) has reported that area resident Terry Wesner was offered an apology by the department.

Police evacuated citizens from their homes within a quarantined area near Smith Elementary School Saturday night (July 17, 2004) to conduct a broad gun sweep of the neighborhood following the shooting of Oshkosh police officer Nate Gallagher.

Residents reported returning home from area shelters -- where they were herded by police -- to find their guns gone

Thats some scarey stuff, especially when they use the schools as an excuess to rid people of guns.

a few years ago when they passed these laws that guns cant be with-in x amount of feet to a school. people who lived in the house across the streets from the schools were in violation of the law. If I remember correctly they changed the law.

Imagine how upset you'd be if you found your guns gone! Do you think those cops handled the guns as carefully as you would have while they were piling them in the back seat of the cop car?

The chief of police should be fired.

I agree. If we are not careful with who we support politically and always question them that this will become commonplace.

Actually he and the cops that did this should be charged with a civil rights lawsuit as well as being fired.

Where is the ACLU on this one? Does this fit their definition of a civil rights violation? Or do you suppose they are to busy suporting NAMBLA and trying to take a cross off of some counties banner somewhere in America.

Ya know I think I'm gonna email them and ask.
