Well this was short and sweet. Located some bulls last night. Came in this morning and set up on a screamer. One bugle back and a few cow calls later this guy snuck. He spooked at about 30 yards while I was waiting on him to clear a tree. I cow called and he stopped at 45 yards. Made a good shot and he went about 60 yards and piled up. This was the first elk hunt my wife has been on with me so I really hope she don’t think it’s always this easy or she will try to cut my out west time back. All meat packed out and to the processor by 3pm. Relaxing for the evening & tomorrow morning and then it’s on for mule deer! Blessed more than I deserve.

He was straight out of a wallow. He was nasty.Awesome!!
I'm completely ignorant to elk hunting. Are his antlers muddy from dying or from a wallow?
