Looks like I need to find out who owns this field and see if I can shed hunt and turkey hunt! There are about 60-70 turkeys with lots of big gobblers. I wish I would have had my camera instead of a cell for a better picture.

It has been pretty mild so far around here. It's rained just about every day for the past week or two. The winter wheat is loving it, and the deer and turkey are loving the winter wheat.

Mild but LOTS of rain this winter in the Corn Belt that's for sure. Looks like that wouldn't be a bad place to have permission...

Problem is that those turkeys probably won't be using that field when season rolls around. We have flocks like that in our fields every few years. They break up a few weeks before season and move on. The worst turkey seasons are those when we have turkeys around in the winter, the best seasons are when we see very few turkeys in the winter and they show up like magic a couple of weeks before season. Not sure if that's how it will work in Ohio, but that's been my experience.

They do about the same here. This is the first sizable group I have saw yet this winter though. The good thing is, there seems to be a lot of them this year. It must have been a good hatch the last couple of years.

I see your not used to seeing hard winter wheat fields, they germinate around October and stay green and lie dormant through the winter until the spring.
