I have a question. Do you set up bait sites then run the bear from there? Or am I miss reading past posts?

Yes in Maine.It is illegal in N.H. and vermont.

John, We fill hollow logs with bait (usually cookies) stand them upright with one end burried in the dirt. On the top we put a big rock or somthing. This way we know somthing big enough to be a bear was at the bait.
Sometimes we also get lucky and rig one but most of them are run off of baits.

Have you had your dogs out yet???
