One of our 3 ferries that cross the Missouri River.
One is in Carter, Virgille ( coal banks landing), and
McClelland/Stafford Ferry. We went across the Virgille one, Sunday fishing it cuts off 100 miles ish. Anyway, there are very few people that cross this time of year, harvest and hunting season is their busy time. When we drove on we saw a bunch of branches and sticks on the pulley that holds the ferry strait a bird's nest. It turns out an osprey built her nest on it.
The operator tried many times to discourage her from nesting there.
Even having the Fire department try to blast off the nest with their fire hose.
No luck the chick hatched and is now enjoying its free ride back and forth the fiver.
Much to the female's protests.
