Welcome to the site. In my experience from California, pack-in hunts were the only way to escape the circus. Seemed to me that CA hunters in general didn't grow up with hunting ethics such as giving space or even having basic civility. I met some great guys in the backcountry though and the beautiful scenery makes it a great trip whether you harvest or not.
