New Fly Boxes

Started a little side hustle making fly boxes last summer. Finally got some decent weather to work on a few tops this weekend. Been tinkering with some new ideas that are turning out pretty good.

I’ve been eyeballing some projects like that with all this time on my hands. How is that epoxy to work with?

Yup. A couple are already spoken for but most are fair game. I’ve got another batch of 20 or so tops that I’ll be finishing tomorrow or a Wednesday before moving on to making the boxes this weekend (assuming fishing doesn’t get it in the way...).

It’s not too bad with some practice. Bubbles are the biggest issue. Sealing the wood and rocks really helps.

The initial goal was to make a kitchen table similar to my box above with the blue. I figured it would be a good idea to practice on some smaller pieces before I ruined a couple thousand dollars worth of wood.

Yup. It’ll only cost you $5/fly, but all I can tie is worms, eggs, and caddis
