This morning the wife and I went to town to change out the flower decorations she made for her parent's graves. Her mom ran a floral shop and my wife learned how to design through her. We took a Christmas wreath to stick between the headstones as well as a Christmas arrangement that fits in an urn to replace the one that stays there the rest of the year. When we got there, the arrangement in the urn was gone! What kind of cold-hearted, miserable, douche of a low life scum bag would STEAL a silk and plastic flower arrangement from a CEMETERY? We were both pretty pissed, to say the least. We went to have breakfast at a little diner up the road where we talked about it further. I even thought about putting a trail camera in the tree in case the rotten asshole came back for the new one since it was so nice. If you were to go buy it you would pay a good buck for it. My wife gets a bit particular with being "perfect" with things. We decided to go back and remove the wreath, and I bought some heavy wire so I could go back tomorrow and secure the new arrangement to the urn. If they get this one they will have to really work for it, assuming it's still there when I get back. So, our day was pretty well ruined by this jerk, male or female, that was too damn cheap to go get their own flowers. I can't even imagine how my wife can deal with it, being so personal for her. Probably a good thing I don't know who did it...
 
Dave, sorry for your grief! To say the least there's a lot of low life's scumbags out there but this is unheard of!best of luck in the future!
 
I know your pain. My wife’s younger brother died several years ago and is buried in a small country cemetery, she has had grave blankets and wreaths stolen. It takes a special breed of lowlife to steal from a cemetery. Sorry for you guys.

So sorry Dave. We know the feeling.

You might check with the cemetery staff. Where my grandparents are buried they only leave certain types of things for a week or two (like balloons and real flowers). Silk flower arrangements and such get a month. We didn't know this and wondered why things kept disappearing.
 
It very well could've been the caretaker and not necessarily with ill intent. My friend worked at a cemetery and they'd remove old flowers as a matter of policy
 
I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over it. Could it possibly have blown away? Like other's have said sometimes caretakers remove things too.

I've helped my grandfather put flags on veteran's graves for memorial day the last several years and we lose a ton of flags to the lawn mowers.
 
Need to vent grief. My ninety-five year old WWII veteran Uncle Barney passed Thanksgiving night. A salt-of-the-earth son of Montana homesteaders, retired banker, kilt wearing strong piper charter member of the Great Falls Shriners Bagpipe Band, he marched in every parade I ever watched as a kid. He strongly supported me throughout my life, weeping when I left for Vietnam, cheering when I returned, and being there for me and my brothers. Now that's a loss resulting in venting ... loss of synthetic flowers, not so much. Try to redirect your anger to positivity.
 
I read in the Statewide Tribune newspaper a few months ago, that some woman in Casper,Wyoming stole over $30,000.00 (if I remember correctly) worth of Brass vases from a veteran's cemetery. Was busted for it, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She sold them to a scrap yard. You'd think the scrap yard would get suspicious with that many of the exact same vase coming in.
But after all, it did happen in Casper.

Straight Arrow, sorry for your loss. Being as fresh as it is for you I'll let your reply go without saying anything besides I/we were angry and not grieving. Flowers compared to a human being? Yes, no comparison. But that wasn't my intent and if I came across as caring about a bunch of fake flowers more than anything else, sorry. It was the IDEA that they could have been stolen from the cemetery that made us mad.

As far as the caretaker removing them, it's a possibility. Fall clean-up started November 1st, BUT the urn had these flowers in it last year and they stayed put according to my wife. We changed out the arrangements for the different seasons and never had a problem. Figured it was different than something on the ground or on a hook since a big concrete urn wasn't going anywhere. When we went back up today we looked around and NONE of the other urns had anything in them. She's going to call tomorrow to double-check if that was the case. If so, guess it's our mistake. Another lesson learned. It was just the shock of driving up to see them missing in the first place that triggered the anger response.
 
A decade or so ago somebody stole my fathers brass urn from his grave site. It turned out to be some teenage punk who lived nearby. Humanity has no shortage of bottom feeders — here or anywhere else I suppose.
