I went out this morning to put another ladder stand up. The thick spot where the two spikes were caught with the trail cam. Visitors to the Shack will know what I mean. I had to cut a lot of limbs and saplings. Finally got the stand up, and was clearing shooting lanes, I turned, and a fawn was standing about 10ft from me. When she spotted me, she looked left real quick, then right real quick, then left again, tried to snort but it came out like a little girls squeal and she took off.

Ah, Whiskers...that reminds me of the 2nd deer I ever shot. I was standing there with a spindly 8-point (er, 4x4, I mean, 4 point) on the ground, knife out and just about ready to start cutting him open, when here comes a spike up the hill and right toward me. he stopped about 10-15 feet away and just stood there looking at me. I had to walk toward him waving my hands to get him to go away, and even then he only went 20 or so yards, then stopped and watched some more...finally he just kind of wandered off the other side of the ridge. Kids these days...what can you do? :D
