I never forgot a camera on a hunting trip before.... until now. Good thing I had a cell phone at least but hero shots are not possible when your alone with a phone that has no self timer or tripod mount so my deer pictures sucked.
As you may know, the first day I set out and mid morning Greenhorn killed a bull so that peaked my interest for a while. Later I saw a real wide 3pt that was pretty tempting, but not the first day. Day two just 2 little guys. Day 3 brought 2 more bucks including this one. I thought about passing him but liked the fact he was tall. He is not very wide though. I made a 500 yard stalk and got within 230 yards and it was all over. 3 mile pack out was easy but for some reason my Achilles tendons are killing me. The next day I borrowed an old 1100 and a handfull of shotgun shells that were turning green and took a walk. Missed 5 shots then hit 3 in a row. That is a lot to carry without a game vest but I never figured I would get one, much less 3.
Montana is a wonderfull place.

Congrats on a succesful trip, the last time I forgot a camera at home I killed something as well, hmm...

Congrats, Schmalts. Lots of hunting options in that part of the state. Nice buck, to boot.

A dedicated hunter would have had his pheasant crewcab with him.

Well done Pat.
