Well, I saw my first bear of the year this evening and he more than fit my requirements for the year. I was after any mature boar but this guy was a big old tusker! I am really fortunate to hunt an area that has some impressive black bears. I never see many but it doesn't take a lot to see one I want.

When I first spotted him he was in some trees feeding on skunk cabbage and I thought for a minute there was a feral steer in the hills. It's always hard to know exactly what your looking at but my first impression was BIG boar. I watched him a while and tried to get my video camera to focus on him in the trees but between the camera focusing on trees in front of him and my glasses fogging up I was having a heck of a time. Finally I moved forward to 119 yards from Mr Bear and fortunately he fed out into the clear where I believe I got some good footage of the shot. Poleaxed him just like the one last year. :D Man I love spring bear hunting!!

Stay tuned for the video in a few days. For now here he is....

Congratulations on a nice bear on a quick season! Looking forward to seeing the video.
