Oh, I guess I should probably post the buck I arrowed two weeks ago. I snuck out for a couple days in mid november with the bow in hand to chase some rutted up whitey bucks in Kansas. I actually spent more time in my truck driving there and back than i did hunting Guess thats a good problem to have. After passing on a 150 class deer on the first evening, and nearly killing a giant nontypical on the second, I figured the third evening would be the ticket. And talk about the ticket! I couldn't find a tree to put a stand in, and hate hunting from the ground, so i just improvised and climbed up into a leaning over tree and sat in the crotch of a huge branch. Nope, not comfortable at all but when a 160" whitetail came chasing a doe out of the riverbottom, I quit worrying about the comfort. My buddy was in a stand only 300 yards away and as light started to fade, i got a text saying.." I just shot a GIANT!!".............my response was " Awesome! I need a rifle, this big SOB won't come into bow range"...........Well, 4 minutes after i sent that text, guess who was on his way. He stopped broadside at 40 yards as i drew my bow in the crotch of that leaning tree. I watched that arrow smack that bugger as perfect as i could have wanted! I watched him pile up 40 yards from where i hit him. What an awesome hunt! Both of us tanked two awesome deer in a matter of 15 minutes.
Was able to make the hunt happen in 3 days so I could get back to MT and get back on finding Dan an elk!
