Ellensburg, Washington is where I've lived a good portion of my life. It's a fantastic little town nestled right up against the cascade mountain range in Washington's elk capital. 1 hour and 45 mins from downtown Seattle, but a whole different climate (Sunny and dry with all 4 seasons). city of 18,000 with opportunity for jobs and a state university in the middle of town.
Also only an hour and a half to Spokane/Idaho and about 3-4 hours from Montana. If you want space, accessibility to larger cities and good hunting, I'd say Ellensburg would be a great candidate.
