I've only gone once, got skunked. I think the canyons gonna be ready around July this year. I need some bare slopes and green grass to get me wound up.

Still haven't seen a black bear. Not what you want to hear, but we are breaking all time record snow depths here now. Stryker Ridge north of Whitefish, most snow measured in history, other places are 200, 300+ percent of normal. Hardly any low elevation melting going on. And I heard the lady that does the snow course in the Yaak said the measuring pole was gone.
Only sign of bear life where I hunt so far has been a sow griz and two cubs.

I am reasonably sure there isn't going to be a culvert left in the south fork, swan, north fork, or Grave Creek areas if all this comes off at once.

But, for you guys whacking some bears, nice job!!

I have seen herds of elk though!! Had 20 looking in my window at me last night right before dark.

Thanks for the info guys Hopefully alot can happen in the next 20 days out there.I would be thrilled to see some elk while I am there,I have never seen any in the wild.

Ya Randy, region 2. I live in Hamilton, fairly new to the area. It was only my second time hunting the area where I took the bear so I felt pretty lucky about the whole deal. Congrats again on your bear, how many does that make?

well, enden up taken my 3 year old son with me...no bear sightings....but did see 250 head of elk and tons of deer and a few speedgoats. He had a blast.

Sweet I'm up to 3 also...I took a real nice spring boar (dark chocolate) in MT a few years ago and a monster last Sept in AK. This year's bear was the first sow I've shot and by far the smallest but she has a gorgeous coat and I'm way stoked. Where in region 2 are you?
