Michigan lawmakers push for moose hunting on Isle Royale National Park

I'm usually all for more opportunity. I think the general public (lawmakers included) don't understand what an undertaking it would be to get a moose off that island. Its a remote island with no infrastructure, no roads, difficult boat access. My back is aching just thinking about it.

I am sure there are enough folks that would be willing to help pack it out for a share of the meat. Also for what it cost to hunt in the Yukon or NF you could have a helicopter on stand by and sling load them out and probably still be cheaper.

Sounds like a good National Guard aviation mission.

They would rather move wolves onto the island to kill the moose than let people kill the moose...

Ya, no thank you. I lived in Thunder Bay and crossing Lake Superior at that time of year is to dangerous..... I don't want to turn into a Gordon Lightfoot song. It would be nice if they used that population as a feeder to help boost the mainland herd
