l was reading a non fiction book about two trappers who seen a bear from their cabin and grabbing their packs, rifles, and a few other things they headed out after him, while they were out, their cabin burned to the ground, fortunately they still had their cache with their equipment in it and twelve rounds between them. they were talking about how they didn't have to worry about getting meat because they had beaver traps and castor until they found a big game animal.
what would your meat getter be till you were able to get a big game animal down in that situation...
mine, because l don't trap would be a 22lr handgun.

Truly enjoy mtn man history and survival scenarios. Boys and I even did the porcupine thing this winter.
But if I ever was in a real survival situation or needed meat for the family table it wouldn't be a deer or elk...
