I think part of the problem is that hunters are notoriously shitty at participating in the conversation.Good luck with that one, hope you guys get it but highly unlikely.
I lived out there for 20 years and a bill of that nature would come up every few years.....and go nowhere as you can imagine.
Just did a bit more perusing and it looks like HD.915 (filed today) takes it a bit further, not just exempting deer season from the Sunday restriction which HD.767 does but gets rid of the section that prohibits Sunday hunting all together.@ChrisC @peterk1234 @targetpanic

How are blue laws not a violation of the constitution?I lived in a state with no Sunday hunting. Why can you go golfing but not hunting? Just shorten the season if it's a "number of hunt days" kind of thing. If it's a religious thing then it should apply to golfing.
I don't think hunting is mentioned in the constitutionHow are blue laws not a violation of the constitution?
First amendment.I don't think hunting is mentioned in the constitution
My aunt and uncle lived in Barre for 30 years, in past she's made comments about being "scared of getting shot" during hunting season. I finally confronted her about it and asked if she had ever seen a hunter in the woods, to which she replied no.I'd love to see this change too. It's a tough argument to make to a population that is mostly non-hunting and somewhat scared of hunters. People end up feeling safer being in the woods on sundays, to hike, bike, etc. They don't want to give that up.
I totally agree. I tell everyone they should just buy a blaze orange vest and hat and recreate the way they want, with confidence. My aunt and uncle lived in Barre for 30 years, in past she's made comments about being "scared of getting shot" during hunting season. So I agree it's all about people feeling safe... but I'm not sure if reality matches perception.
