I burned my CO deer points on a early rifle Maroon Bells wilderness buck tag. I dropped this guy at about 12,350 ft. on Sep 11th. I went in looking for a velvet buck, but everything I saw over a forkhorn was hard-horned. This one stepped out in the lightest grey coat I'd ever seen plus he had some fuzz on his rear tines...that was good enough for me. 450 yards, .300 RUM, 180g partition did the trick again. Between the hunt and the spectacular scenery, it was an absolute blast. I picked up a leftover bear tag, mainly for an excuse to stay up there, but didn't fill that one. I did catch a couple brookies so I'm going to go ahead and declare the trip a safari.
