Man shooting puppies

Do you really think so? If it was a veal calf, would you feel the same way? What about coyotes? Was he just taking on the responsibility of euthanizing unwnated pups himself, rather than shifting the burden to someone else? (I agree, by the way, that the parent dogs should have been fixed so that the pups were never born.)

Would it make that much difference if he had taken them to the pound to be gassed?

We had a similar topic about putting down your old hunting dog. Several people here said they would prefer to do it themselves.

Its too bad some people are even allowed to own a pet...or worse allowed to have kids.

Big difference between a responsible dog owner putting down an old dog and an irresponsible dog owner having a litter of pups that he kills because its inconvienent.

Perhaps because we live in a civilized and moral society???
your joking right?
show me a moral society in this day and age.

You know if he would have taken them to a pound they would have put them down for about 25-100 bucks each and the guy wouldnt have been charged for cruelty to animals.

I guess being a civilized and moral society is money huh?

"Perhaps because we live in a civilized and moral society???"

A felony cruelty to animals charge for shooting your own unwanted dog's??????
After working with a veterinarian and as a dog groomer and seeing what some people do to there pet's and then claim to love them ,I don't see shooting them as that bad of a way to go.

I guess the man should of done a partial birth abortion on the puppies -----then it would of been an accepted way of killing them?

I couldn't shoot them ,but I know it's done.
I'll bet most of the people that are so outraged at this guy are the same one's that fully support partial birth abortion's !!!!!!!!!

If the guy was holding them down to torture them I agree he should get the max,but if his only plan was to put them down himself because he couldn't find homes for them I dont see alot of difference to dropping them off at the pound and letting someone else do it.

I'll tell you what I think is funny...

Some of the people on this board that think its OK for some dude to whack a litter of pups, will turn right around and rake someone over the coals for killing a wounded big-game animal.

Hmmmmmm?????

I personally think the cruelty to animals thing has gotten way out of hand.

My daughter the (yougner one) watch's this show on tv called pet police or something like that, they have cops that rome the town giveing people huge tickets for little things.
one of them was a dog was killed and thrown in the trash can (one of the coutry areas where it was legal to discharge a firearms) seems the neighbors dog kept on coming onto this mans property and chasing his live stock. After repeated attempts to get the problem resolved which didnt work he shot the dog.
seems the garbage man reported it and the case went on from there. it was a 2-3 month investigation. the caught the guy and he admitted to it an why.
Funny thing was the forensic vets(yeah special team) and animal cops said this was one reason people shouldnt own guns. They were upset when the guy didnt get 30 days in jail and bigger fines.

Maybe he should have taken steps during the pregnancy to abort the puppies. After all, that is accepted practice among humans. I would think that the same people that are against him taking care of things the way he did would also object to him "aborting" the puppies.

ooops, I just read the other posts, but I still think that this holds true.

So.....several years ago when my shorthair had a litter and one of the little buggers came out with some deformity that didn't allow it to have any control of it's front & hind legs....and I whacked it on the head with a ball bat (hard as it was) to swiftly dispatch the poor little bugger.....did I commit a felony?

Wally dog ,I sure dont think you did but there are people out there that would.
I could never do that but I understand why you would.
Delw ,the whole trash can thing is kinda funny, when I worked at a vet. clinic I was suprized to learn what we did with animals that were put down if the owner's didnt want them.
Yes people, they went into the trash ,of course we did bag them first.

Now we have places that will pick up your pet and cremate them ,then you can either pick them up or they will spread them for you.
On Horse's we called the dead wagon and they wenched them into the truck .
I plan on taking my old dog into the vet's when the time comes and then bury her myself.

"Some of the people on this board that think its OK for some dude to whack a litter of pups, will turn right around and rake someone over the coals for killing a wounded big-game animal."

Buzz ,I think that was directed at me??????
I would not rake anyone over the coals if they decide to shoot a wounded animal and tag it,and I feel that it's a personal judgment call on putting any wounded animal down and leaving it,it's illegal but still a judgment call that under the right conditions I may or may not do.
What I said was that I myself will not shoot a wounded animal and tag it if I think the other person is tracking it and I don't want anyone taking it upon thereself to put down something if I happened to wound it,nor will I shoot someone else's wounded animal for them while I think they are tracking.
Same thing goes for someone putting down there own animal---------I have had to hold animal's that were being put down by a vet. (including my own )and I have been around when someone decided to do it thereself.
As long as it's done in a fast humane manner I have no problem with anyone taking it upon thereself ,I myself couldnt do it,but I also didnt like it when I had to help the vet. put down other people's pet's.

I also happen to be against all abortion's ,but again that's my personal feeling and I havent raked my friends over the coal's when they decided it was right for them.

Md i just can`t see how you could be against[all] abortions, i don`t think anyone likes abortion as [birth control] but in cases of rape/incest i don`t see a problem. i don`t let religion get in the way of common sense.
