I was wondering if someone could provide input on hunting this area west of Missoula for turkeys. Are there turkeys there?

The birds are mostly on private, but if you cruise likely places before sunrise (with your GPS) you can find birds on public.

Haven't lived in Missoula for a few years and never hunted turkeys there. I did frequently see turkeys in the Obrien Creek/Black Mountain areas just west of town though, as well as up the Petty Creek drainage when I was fishing.

I had a couple walk by me when I was four miles back in a roadless area last fall. Kind of blew my mind.

90% of the turkey's I see in that area are sitting in people's yards.
