Why would the Hollywood elite want to leave America? Why would liberals choose to live abroad rather then be governed by a Republican Pres.? Did the conservatives fly the coops when Clinton was president for eight years? Would anyone shed a tear if Larry Flynt, Alec Baldwin, Robert Redford, Sean Penn, Bruce Springsteen and all the other Hollywood liberals left this country?

Canada to Bush-haters: Not so fast
Disgruntled Democrats looking to leave U.S. told to wait in line

Canada has a message for angry Americans looking to leave the U.S. because of their disdain for President Bush's re-election: not so fast.

Officials say disgruntled Democrats would have to wait their turn and follow the proper immigration procedures, which often take up to a year to complete.

"Let me tell you – if they're hard-working honest people, there's a process, and let them apply," Immigration Minister Judy Sgro told Reuters.

Asked about any special treatment for Americans, she said, "No, they'll join the crowd like all the other people who want to come to Canada."

The Canadian foreign ministry says it hasn't seen any increase in online traffic on the Washington embassy's immigration website, and housing brokers doubted they'd see a surge in business from Americans.

Earlier this week, the London Daily Telegraph published an article featuring a number of comments from Californians considering leaving the U.S. should Bush win a second term.

''I certainly don't love the climate of Vancouver, but I love the sanity,'' said Steve Crawford, 54, a singer and actor who volunteered at the Democratic Party offices in Santa Monica. ''For someone like me, if this happens, I can't in good conscience allow myself to support another Bush government, even benignly. And a lot of other people are saying the same. I have a good friend who is adamant he will leave if Bush is re-elected. He's picked two countries and will definitely go to one should this happen.''

Internet-business owner Gretchen Witte, 35, from Alhambra, Calif., told the paper she'd move to London, where she previously lived for eight years, should Bush win.

''As a woman, the current climate is becoming intolerable. Bush has just appointed a man to the FDA reproductive health panel who believes that women with medical trouble should pray to Jesus for relief. If this is what America is becoming, I cannot live here. The only reason I can sleep at night is the thought that I can leave the country if he wins.''

Some in the entertainment world were also noted to make threats about leaving.

Actor Robert Redford reportedly vowed to move to Ireland where he owns homes near Dublin.

And speaking in Paris this week, Hustler magazine porn magnate Larry Flynt told the German News Agency he'd have to consider living in exile.

"If Bush is re-elected – but I don't want to even consider the thought for one second – I really have to think about living somewhere else," Flynt said

Eventhough I don't agree with the choice of President at this time, I still feel this nation has the most potential.

The United States is not perfect but it is definitely the best out there right now...

Besides, President Bush is pretty easy to make fun of. His speaking skills are moderate at best and provide great fodder for comedians. If we can make it four more years, I guess "What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!"

What???

With all the "strategery" we ought to be in great shape with Shrub for 4 more year...

Oh chit more and more wanna live here now, hell I live in a small street in a small city 30 km from Wellington, in the last 15 months 3 American familys have bought houses and moved into our street. see below more acummin'

Didn't Alec Baldwin say in 2000 that if Bush was elected he was moving out of the country? Now saying it again? I sure won't shed any tears. Come to think of it, I can't remember anything he has been in since that comment other than a made for TV movie.

All right!!! How can we make it easier for them?

"To convince Americans to come on up, the site mentions that Canada is a liberal utopia with universal health care and, in some provinces, gay marriage."

"The San Francisco Chronicle reported that many Americans were inquiring about moving to New Zealand, Australia and Canada as a result of the election."

Maybe enough Californian/San Franciscan liberals will move out that we can get rid of Feinstein and Boxer!

Hey, I like Canada and its liberalism, in particular their liberal views on sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly tags.

I'm thinking that the hunting opportunities in BC could allow me to call that place home! ;) Now if I could just convince the wife!!! I mean, where else can one get 3/4 of asheep slam! :D

"Hey, I like Canada and its liberalism, in particular their liberal views on sheep, moose, caribou, and grizzly tags"

Is that so Buzz? A few more libs from the U. S. and Grizzly hunting will be a thing of the past in Canada. It has already happened once in B. C., and there is a renewed effort now. In the NWT grizzly hunting is illegal in the Mackenzie's even though they are crawling with grizzlies. Canada has a large percentage of anti hunters amongst it's population. The other animals you mention are next. Your a fool.

Wouldn`t it be great if..Ashton Kutchner/Springsteen/Baldwin/M. Moore/Sean Penn/ and "puff Daddy" all moved out of the country?

Yeah, these blowhard liberal celebrities are nothing more than a bunch of lieing losers like they always are! Kinda like the spoiled kid that didn't get his way, so he took his ball and went home spoiling the game for everyone involved.

These flakes won't leave the country. Do you think they're whining will get as much publicity out of this country? Do you think Robert Redford will sell all his land an leave?????

Didn't think so.

What a bunch of whining losers!

BHR,

You're a wingnut, and a wingnut plumb full of crap at that.

How are liberal Americans going to vote to ban grizzly hunting, stone sheep hunting, etc. in Canada? Americans have no say one way or the other on Canadian law.

Instead of bitching about not being able to hunt grizzly bears in one mountain range in Canada, try getting a season started back up in the lower 48. Then after I killed one, I could guide you so you could see your first one. Just bring extra undies as I'm sure you'll shit all over yourself when I show you your first griz...and I dont want to ride all the way back to the 'root in a truck with you and the payload in your britches.

I think you need to jump back on the meds...

Buzz,

Grab both ears and pull. If you MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY and gain residencey, you can VOTE IN THAT COUNTRY. Unfortunately for you and IT, you can no longer vote in the country you leave. My generous offer to IT, stands for you too Buzz boy.

BTW I appreciate your offer to guide me on a griz hunt but the only way I'ld hunt with you for griz is if you were the bait.

Paul

BHR- Are you telling Buzz to grab both your ears and pull????

I didn't know you were into that.... then again I still don't want to know!!
