Laying Steel!

Man I tell you what my hat goes off to you trappers. I have been wanting to get into it for some time now. That is by far one of the coolest things I have seen.

SS, great thread. Hopefully you'll be posting pics of #2 soon. After you get your three, can you legally show someone else how to do it?

That's awesome Shoots. I always thought you were a wolf lover. At least that's what they always said on Monster Muleys ;) go get two more

Your right on! I used a .223 short mag though. I carry it in case I see one NOT in a trap.

From my limited reading/research, it seems most people use one shot at close range to the base of the skull for smaller critters held by a neck snare to keep from damaging the pelt. I'm guessing big cats, yotes and particularly wolves aren't likely to lay still enough for that. Any process details would be appreciated. I find it pretty interesting even if it won't likely be something I ever get around to trying myself.

Anything in a leg hold trap should be dispatched as quick and human as possible. The snares I use for Coyotes, fox, bobcat etc will be found dead unless there's equipment malfunction, or somthing strange happens. Those things don't happen too much though.

Nice. I hope we never get wolves around here, But if we do I would love to trap some.
