I have a cheap trailcam with a terribly slow trigger speed that captures lots of empty frames and animal butts. When I copied the photos from it this weekend, this one caught my attention. It looks like a cougar hindquarters and tail to me. Any other opinions?

(ps - I'd also appreciate opinions on a reasonably priced camera that is more likely to capture the whole animal)

Here's a wider view.

I've had the best luck with Bushnell brand cameras; they have several in the $100 range. I've had decent luck with Primo's brand. Worst cameras ever are wildgame innovations; wouldn't take a new one for free.

Reconyx HC600. No flash, takes good pics and triggers pretty fast. Use it for home security also. I shopped around online and found a good deal. Looks like there are several brands out now that do a good job but trigger speeds do vary a great deal. My ultimate lithium batteries are just now down to 54 % and they are originals put in 3 years ago. How is battery life with all of your other brands out there? I don't use mine heavily , just a few short times a year.

The Reconyx cameras are the best. I don't think anyone would argue that. The only drawback to them is the price tag. They used to have the slogan "see what you've been missing" and it is very accurate. When I had a fire that burned up all my other trail cameras I found a deal on some used Reconyx cameras. It was amazing what I started getting pictures of.

Stealth cams and brownings are hard to beat for the price. I've been running them for a long time without major issues. I would have a really hard time leaving a $500 trail camera out in the woods knowing it could get stolen. Camofire.com usually has great deals on trail cameras. I honestly won't spend more than $100 on a trail camera

I agree, have had quite a few brands, now only buy Bushnell - best overall clarity/quality I have found. You want to look for a sub 1 second trigger speed ( which most of the Bushnells have )

Definitely a big kitty! Hard to tell, but he ( or she ) looks pretty stout

I have too multree m8 I haven't ever put them up
Except when I leave for vacations. Redneck home security all inferred no flash. I picked them up like five years ago. Also not a professional but I would say it's quite a fit cat. I've only seen four and none from the back.
