Well this may be my last trip in the salt for a couple weeks, since my buddy's wife is due with their first kid this Friday. We took off at 3:30 to hit the 5:15 tide switch. Trolled around until 5 at a spot we normally get them this time of year. No luck, a bunch of h.umpbacks in there so there has to be feed, but we couldn't find it. Caught a bunck of rockfish and I snapped a picture for you Moosie.

So we pulled up and went to our late May/early June spot figuring everything else is 2-3 weeks behind this year. Bingo, found a couple small bait balls going from 30 feet down to 60 in about 120 feet of water. Nailed two halibut trolling at 90, one keeper at about 20lbs and one scrub. Keep trolling...

Bang, first king on. Then we lost the bait balls and a blank screen always p*sses me off...

Took another hour to find some on the other side of the reef. Bang, second king. Trolled for a little while longer then figured no need to get greedy. Forgot to take pictures of the kings until we got back to my friends place. Oh well.

Nice fish! With the scenery in the background of photo 2, I wouldn't mind if I didn't catch anything.

Nice work on the fishes. How are those legs coming for goat season?

Nothing says "sheep shape" like a double chin... :D
I've been hiking a little and went up old women mt last weekend. Legs feel pretty good, need to work on the stamina a little though, not to mention dropping about 10lbs. Spotted 2 billies and 3 nannies with a couple little white fur balls in tow. Also spotted a sow with a pair of year old cubs. They were a ways off so we just watched them for a while. Got to see the cubs slid down a snow slide, one on its belly and the other on its back. Of course like any sibblings they started a pretty good brawl once they reached the bottom. Reminds me I should call my older brother, I still owe him a couple good @ss whoopins. :BLEEP:

Got a good laugh out of the double chin comment. Thanks for posting the pictures TB. Sitting in this wasteland looking at those pics sure gets me reminiscing.

Well I'll try to post pics off and on for you. Keep your head down and your witts about you. Did 10 years in the Navy Reserve as a SeaBee. I was supposed to go over for the first show, but got put on stand down a couple weeks before our ship date. Glad I got my @ss out a couple years before the second go round, since this one's been a lot messier than the first one.

Great looking fish, what do you use on the business end while fishing for them?

Down here the top two producers tend to be squid/Flasher combos followed by herring hoods but we do pretty good on spoons also.

We run the flashers off the downrigger ball on a 3 foot leader. For lure we usually use a squid or herring off one line and a ladder back off the other. We go with a silver ladder back on bright days and a black one (white under belly)on dark days. Usually with a chart., orange or hot pink ladder. Both of those came off a black spoon with a hot pink "ladder".

Gotchya and thanks for the picture.

As I said before I use spoons a fair bit but have never seen one like that for sale around here.

Would love to get a chance to hook into one of the big kings you gents have up there. Can't imagine the fight they must have compared to our little guys.

Keep the reports coming.

Nice fish TB. I hope to fish up there in a few years.

I sold my boat last fall and part of the deal was to take the new owner up to the lakes and show him how to fish. I was going to go this week if the weather lets us. I checked what's hot on the local fishing report and decided to make up some lures.

BWANA Check this out for different types of spoons that work on Ontario.
