Jackson Refuge Elk

Anyone ever hunt the Refuge elk ? I have been thinking of doing a cow hunt there for a few years but never took the step.

I helped a buddy carry a cow out of there last year. Its dangerously crowded with mostly inexperienced hunters. Not a backcountry adventure by any stretch. Odds of killing a cow are very high if you can shoot and have a couple days. I'd only do it if my freezer was empty. That pretty well sums it up.

If you've ever been in war, it's very much like the refuge hunt. My partner and I did it a few years back and will not do it again.

WOW ! I thought it would be a different kind of hunt but did not think of it as that .

Is the area large enough that you can walk away from the warzone.

I ate a tag there as it just wasn't my cuppa tea. IMO, I'd rather have a lesser chance of filling the tag is a 'regular' unit. Though I will say, staying in Jackson for the weekend and getting drunk with my wife was fun!

Jackson, where millionaires are lower class. Last year there was NR cow tags available OTC just over the border in Idaho. mtmuley
