Is Earth a sphere?

Because the planet rotates and is more flexible than you might imagine, it bulges at the midsection, creating a sort of pumpkin shape. The bulge was lessening for centuries but now, suddenly, it is growing. Accelerated melting of Earth's glaciers is taking the blame for the gain in equatorial girth.

I would suspect that changes in mass distribution throughout the planet would be a more likely suspect. My number two choice would be speed of rotation. And number three would likely be ektopressures. Of course this symptom too, iff accurate, conuld be a natural phenomenon recurring every 76 bazillion years and three fortnights! :D
