OK guys, I am still in the world of the living. A bit of explaining will clear things up.
On Saturday I had an episode of an absolute agonizing headache - the kind that you just fall into the fetal position and grab your head because you think it is ripping apart. It lasted about 10 minutes before I could move around again. This has never happened to me before. I have had some doozy migraines, but never anything like this. Took some Excedrin Migraine (ended up taking 3x the recommended dose through the day) and a normal migraine remained all day.
I woke up Sunday morning and still had the migraine - strange for me. At church I talked to my doctor just to see if I need to set an appointment or set something with a neurologist. He asked about the whole episode and I told him everything. He said he would recommend coming in so he can go over everything in detail, and set up an MRI. Well, having the great health insurance that I do ($2200 deduct.) I figure I will let it wait until the new year rather than hitting the deduct. in the last few months this year. Well, I had the migraine all day again. At about 6:30 Sunday night I had another episode of the axe through the skull feeling and continued to have the migraine until I fell asleep.
Woke up Monday morning and still had the migraine. This is very unusual for me, and my wife and I really started to get scared. I set up my appointment with my doctor on Monday - the last time I posted here.
THE REST OF THE STORY - Doctor said he was worried that I may have a serious problem and that I may have an aneurysm or some other form of swelling or a bleed of some kind. Had an MRI at 5:30pm Monday. Tuesday the radiologist went over the MRI images in detail and didn't find anything remarkable. Couldn't see any swelling, thickening, tumors, bleeding, etc. So the doc then says I should go have a test to see if I may have had a vessel rupture that was not detected by the MRI. I said sure doc, sign me up. So he so pleasantly informed me that I have a spinal tap set for 1:30 Tuesday afternoon.
I showed up right on time. I have always heard how much a spinal tap hurts so I was really looking forward to it. They all lie by the way - it hurts much much worse. The little radiology tech - all 6'2 250 pounds of him - proceeds to prep me tells me that they don't call it a spinal tap anymore because it sounds bad. Now they call it a lumbar puncture - sounds so much better huh? He numbs me up - yeah right, just the skin - and proceeds to stab be in my lower spine with what feels like a freakin straw from a Moosie chocolate shake So my body goes into defense mode and my back muscles start to spasm around the painful intruder. The idiot then says "You need to relax or it will hurt more." So at this time my nice side takes over :BLEEP: :BLEEP: :BLEEP: :BLEEP: :BLEEP: let me stick one of those in your freakin spine you crazy sadistic lunatic.
Well, good news after I am done being turned into a voodoo doll. The fluid was clear.
Soooo, to sum it all up, the good news is that my head isn't about to explode into a red mess. Bad news is they still don't have a clue what caused those headaches. Next I get to set up with a neurologist to see if they can figure something out.
Thanks for all the well wishes guys.
