With the cold weather and snow moving in I figured I better hunt Friday-Sunday and get a six-point bull elk like everyone else on this site. The only detail I hadn't worked out was whether to drive out tonight and sleep at the trailhead or leave at 3:30am tomorrow.

Unfortunately, I just got a call from Steve Robinson at The Department of the Treasury that threw a wrinkle in my plan. He asked me if I had a lawyer because they had issued a judgement against me and are coming over to arrest me tomorrow unless I call 858-768-9847 and talk with an officer. Well that settles it, I will leave tonight. They can arrest me after I get my elk.
:D

I post this scam here because this site comes up on Google regularly and might help someone verify that this is a scam. The dude was pretty convincing that I was going to jail for six months and all my stuff would be seized. He knew a fair amount of my personal information.

I hate these a-holes. I get at least one call a week from a stressed out client wanting to know what to do when they get this call.

I've yet to get a call myself, but from what I hear the caller plays the part of a revenue agent very convincingly--even giving a badge number.

RobG, after all you did for me going back in to get my pack, I will commit to coming and visit you monthly during your prison term. :) I'll even bring cake with a file baked in the middle of it.

I like cake. Thanks! I have heard the trick with prison is to kick somebody's ass the first day, or become someone's bitch.

They told me I was in big trouble and I better take them seriously (with a funny sounding Asian ascent). Tell them to call you at a new number which is local law enforcement number seems to stop them:)
