One of the most common questions I get is about how access is created or improved. On the Federal level, most of that gets funded with the Land and Water Access Fund (LWCF), a program that's been around since 1965 and was recently fully funded and permanently extended with the Great American Outdoor Act of 2020.
Since there are some LWCF projects currently approved, yet hung up in Congress, Marcus and I decided to do a video about how access can be funded and created. And, how it can be squandered if Congress doesn't do its job. I hope Congress gets the currently approved projects (over 200,000 acres) over the finish line pretty soon. Many of these projects are under a buy-sell contract that has an expiration date. We've lost projects in the past due to landowners tiring of the continual delays that come with Congressional approval, appropriation, and funding.
I'll be keeping folks updated on the current project list that was approved in 2024 and not yet complete. If some of the projects are at risk, I will give notice as to who needs the pressure to get out of the way of progress.
