It shows how vulnerable Dubya is, when Kerry has no hesitation to campaign in Dubya's "home" state.... If only he would come out against High Fence, Canned hunts while he is in Texas....
Houston, we’ve got a problem.”
John Kerry declared in Bush's own backyard today, “Houston, we’ve got a problem.”
At a town hall meeting at the Houston Community College, John Kerry blasted Bush saying that he had produced a “barrel of broken promises” on jobs, health care and the federal budget.
Kerry called the president “a walking contradiction” who also failed to make good on vows to change the tone in Washington.
“It’s the worst it’s ever been. This is the biggest ’my way or the highway’ group of people I’ve ever met in my life,” Kerry said.
Kerry pointed out while in Houston that economic pressures have hit Texas with a loss of 84,000 jobs.
“In 2000, George W. Bush spent his campaign telling us that if he made a promise, he would keep his word, "Kerry said. "He told us he would change the tone in Washington. But after leaving a four-year trail of broken promises across every corner of America, we know that George Bush is running from his record because he doesn’t have a record to run on. Right here Texas, 84,000 jobs have been lost, and 5.6 million are without health insurance.
“He promised he would create 4 million jobs, but 3 million were lost. He promised he would make health care more affordable, but 2.8 million Americans have lost their health insurance. He promised he would cut the federal debt by $1 trillion, but his policies have added $1 trillion more. Houston, we have a problem.
“168 years ago today, the Alamo fell. Ever since then we’ve heard ‘Remember the Alamo.’ Today, let’s say remember the broken promises. Remember the lost jobs. Remember the blown surplus. We won’t forget. And this November we will remember America’s middle class families, restore fiscal responsibility, rebuild our economy, and bring back jobs.
“About the only promise we can expect George W. Bush to keep this time around is his pledge of ‘steady leadership’ – he has no problem campaigning on the same failed economic policies that have steadily led America into economic decline.
