Public land elk hunting was tough this year. Most OTC units were packed with people and snow. We struggled to find elk in areas where we always do. In the end, we did find a few good bulls, and i got a shot at 45 yards after stalking in. Shot looked good. I was steady. But i didnt see the impact. We tracked for 4 hrs or so with minimal blood. Eventually, we lost the trail and never recovered the animal.
Here are the pictures of the arrow which apparently was a pass through. I found the arrow just passed were the bull was standing. What kind of blood are we looking at here? I can say for sure it wasnt too far back as there was no visible exit wound when he ran off. Again, what kind of hit is this in your opinion?
