For some unknown reason, my parents used frequent flyer miles to book a trip to Tucson next month.

Any suggestions on activities, attractions, and other ways to kill time???

Pima Air Museum, The Sonora Desert Museum, The Old Tucson Studios, Tohono Chul Park, the Safari Club International HQ is there with a huge wildlife display. Then of course golf.

Saguaro National Park is kind of cool.

What do they like to do.

Sorry, I only pass through there on my way to NM. How far is Tombstone from Tucson? I've always thought about going there.....probably pretty touristy, though, and I'd be disappointed.

Thanks, but it is not me going, it is my parents that are going.... And, I can't figure out why they chose it, and not sure what they want to do. It isn't even cold enough up here yet to think they need to hit the warmer temps.

They will be there for the Sonoma State game. Likely not a very good game, but probably an easy ticket to score since it is exhibition. Is Olson still coaching or is he stepping down?

We can still meet for dinner, but, it would be in Salt Lake if we both drive 1/2 way.... 1-Pointer always has a key hidden under his welcome mat....

That is the problem with Dad and why he hasn't retired yet. He doesn't do real well with hobbies, so not sure what he is going to do. His last "hobby" required him to feed a bunch of whitefaced cows and their calves... He finally sold them down to a manageble number and hired a guy to do the feeding...

The air museum sounds of interest.... and Mom will like the CActi tour....

Olson is still there, I hate UofA but my wife and In-laws all think they played there. Probably easier than normal to get a ticket for that game.

If your parents enjoy golf, there are several world class courses for them to play.

My wife grew up in Tucson and suggests Old Town Artisans, downtown. It's a courtyard with shops of local art, Mexican imports, etc. Also Mac's Indian Jewelry on Grant Ave, if they are in to such things.

She says that the Old Tucson Studios is a major tourist trap and probably not worth it, but she liked all of Nemont's suggestions.

Restaurants:
La Parilla Suiza for Mexican food (2 or 3 locations)
Eclectic Cafe is good for breakfast, but is way on the east side of town.
Cafe Poca Cosa, downtown.
Kingfisher, on Grant Ave.
Ventana Canyon Resort has an awesome Sunday brunch, along with the typical resort stuff.

I was down there a couple years ago and I really liked the Sonoran Desert Museum. The Saguaro NP was pretty cool, but depends on what the cohorts enjoy.

Karchner Caverns is a must. A little bit of a drive from Tucson, but definately worth it.

Yeah, Karchner would be worth a look. It's a huge underground cave system open to public guided tours. You usually need to make reservations for one of the scheduled tours. It's south of Benson, between there and Sierra Vista if my memory serves me. If they go down there, it wouldn't be much farther to Tombstone.

Desert Sonoran Museum is a must. Kitt Peak is really cool if they have any interest in astronomy. Madera or Ramsey Canyon if into birdwatching. Nogales if anyone needs cheap Mexican viagra. If they drive out to Karchner or Tombstone, tell them to stop at "The Thing?" right off the interstate. That place cracks me up. It should be a historic landmark. Best $1 dollar you'll ever spend. Hahaa.

Oh yeah, I'd stay the hell away from the university. UofA sucks. If they want to visit a real university, they would have to make the drive up to Tempe.
