I knew this law was out there but didn't realize it was passed and there were a few folks already open for business starting 9/1.

I doubt I'll spring for the $475 per hour chance to risk my life shooting hogs from a low flying helicopter but it looks like there are people lining up in droves.

Would be great if it actually put a dent in the population, but I doubt it.

To each his own...... I know I'll open a can of worms, but what the heck. IMO. This just another way of the rich, or lazy hunters, way to get to hunt.

I have nothing against that means of travel to be able to access a certain, hard to get to tract of land. But do it right!!!!!!!!

We all have our opinions on a lot of these subjects: travel, high fence, bait. leases, etc.

I've almost quit bear hunting with some really good friends because of the WAY others do it in our area now. We would put dogs in the truck , rigged to our area and if we cut a track so be it. But more than not a couple of us would take three dogs apiece and hit the ground walking for miles leading them till we cut a track to run. Now, if you do that, you may walk two or three miles up and down some mountain and get half way thru and meet some guy with one strike dog on the four wheeler and he's already covered five times as much ground as the guy on foot. UGH:mad::mad:

To each his own......

Exactly, if you wanna use dogs and twinkies to hunt bears, more power to you. I'm kinda puzzled with dogs for cats too when some of the same dudes disparage other methods.

As a capitalist I'm okay with this, as a hunter I am not. Since I think people should be able to live their lives and make their own decisions I have to say to each his own.

However, what I don't like is that this will be the next poster for anti- hunters, get blown way out of proportion, and I will have to defend myself as a hunter. That part I don't like. I wish they could call it "airborne hog control" or something because and derivative of the word hunt should not be used.

Though of they had a chopper with a M134 out the side I might be tempted. ;)

Those that don't like this do realize these are a non-native species that is causing all sorts of damage across the US right?

Looks like a fun and efficient way to take care of a destructive non-native species. Would do it in a heartbeat of I had the scratch, especialy if it was my own property being torn up.

Exactly! Another popular method right now are folks with thermal imaging scopes and AR-15s mowing them down at night. And hog dogging them. There was just some legislation that looks like poison is going to be a possible alternative for them soon as well.

I don't think many folks are going to look at this as "hunting" at all. Do you guys out west consider shooting prairie dogs hunting? About the same thing in my mind although I think hogs are worse.

When driving I swerve to miss gophers, chipmunks, rabbits etc. I believe in fair chase. But there is something about that hog shooting from a helicopter that is VERY appealing to me.

I am non-commital on this one.

This is nothing that I would probably not engage in, but I don't have a problem with others doing it. I don't think it puts hunting in very good light. I don't see this as hunting, but many people will category us together with what is happening in this video. I don't like the promotion of this killing, but if you are trying to sell a product, this is the best way to do it. I have shot a few thousand prairie dogs, but would never post video of blowing up pups on a mound. Just me I guess. Guess I am getting soft in my old age.:D

While watching the video, I saw this one on the sidebar. I understand they need to control hogs, just don't think making it a television episode of Keith Warren blasting baby pigs over their dead mother represents "hunters".

I guess it is judgemental Sunday for Miller.:D

"In the big picture it's not that expensive," Morgan said. "You have people paying $10,000 for one deer. At $475 an hour, it's barely a drop in the bucket for serious hunters."

Groan.....

WHAT ?

Is that like Pinocchio when he said :

Prince Charming: You! You can't lie! So tell me puppet... where... is... Shrek?
Pinocchio: Uh. Hmm, well, uh, I don't know where he's not
Prince Charming: You're telling me you don't know where Shrek is?
Pinocchio: It wouldn't be inaccurate to assume that I couldn't exactly not say that it is or isn't almost partially incorrect.
Prince Charming: So you do know where he is!
Pinocchio: On the contrary. I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that in no way with any amount of uncertainty that I undeniably
Prince Charming: Stop it!
Pinocchio: ...do or do not know where he shouldn't probably be, if that indeed wasn't where he isn't. Even if he wasn't at where I knew he was
[Pigs and Gingerbread Man begin singing]
Pinocchio: That'd mean I'd really have to know where he wasn't.
