Sorry chaps, lost in translation, a bit of my English sarcasm misinterpreted!, hence why i added the post script!

But i will share this with you, i was invited to a 4th July party many years ago on a ranch in Montana, there was a guy there who tried to rub it in that they they kicked us English out, i thought about it for a second, then replied, 'are you sure you really kicked us out?' 'i am here, drinking your beer, eating your food and admiring your women (well not me but my young friend was admiring the latter, i am married!) he thought about it and said 'you have a point!'

So just in case i wasn't clear, have a great independence day.

Devon, I got it, and appreciated the point. I think most of these posts are tongue in cheek. Now we need to work on being a little less cheeky. Thanks again for the sentiment.

I always set my students up by saying that the 4th of July is the day America declared independence. Then I ask, "do they have the 4th of July in England?" The usually response is of course not, but then I remind the students that of course you do, you just don't celebrate it. (Although as you observe our current political circus you may be saying Thank God!)
 
Love the picture fishing4sanity! Certainly makes me proud to be active duty like many others on this forum, to see the celebrations while our flag is high is something that'll I'll always appreciate. I have a close hunting/angling friend, here in Montana, that was diagnosed with a rare cancer and received stem cell treatment. Looking for a compatible donor match, they found it in a Native Brazilian woman. Turns out he had a wee bit of Cherokee in him. Thankfully, he is still alive.

Due to all my previous archaeological/anthropological and paleo linguistic work, I frequently dove into the genetics side of things, always interesting to see what genetics is finding about who is related to who.

So this 4th of July, Descendants of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence, video by Ancestry.com made me smile, especially recognizing Trumbull's famous painting setting.

I live about 1 1/2 miles down a dead end road, as much as I enjoy having my sprayer/flag display where I can see it from the house I decided to move it down to the state highway for the day. One more pic from its' new location. Happy 4th!
