Handgun hog

Scored a nice sized hog yesterday morning with one of my 460 XVRs. About a 45 yard heart shot with handloaded ammo. Some of the best table fare in my opinion.

This particular load is a max charge of H110 pushing a 250 grain Barnes XPB right at 2270 FPS. It's cooking...

I'm also still working on a load using a 300 grain Swift A-frame. Haven't quite got the accuracy I want, yet.

They can be unbelievably good. Most people in Texas have such a disdain for hogs, they just shoot them and leave them. Hogs can completely destroy land, fences, gates, etc.

Yep. We definitely have a hog or two around here. Sneakin up on a sounder with my Blackhawk and dropping a fat sow is one of my favorite ways to hunt!

2 main diseases we have are:
Sparagnosis
Leptospirosis - this is the main one we see. It was isolated to mainly northern populations BUT floods etc have spread it far and wide.
We shoot them and leave them where they lay. If I’m cutting tusks etc out, I carry a small bottle hand sanitiser in my pack
