I would make sure to get him something that will last, guns, knives, binos and packs are all great options maybe a nice pheasant hunting setup would be good if he s going to south Dakota, a shotgun, vest, some ammo, snake gaiters and you should probably get him a good pointing dog too.

What a great thing you are doing. I had an Uncle give me two things at graduation and they were both cool in their own way. First he gave me 50 silver dollars (he always thought coins were better than paper). Then he gave me advice which has served me well when I have taken heed. He told me "In the end, the only person you really have to make happy is yourself, so do what makes you happy." Sounds simple but is not always easy I will add that the memories he will get from your gesture will be worth much more than whatever you give him

I ended up taking my nephew fishing to Leech Lake by Walker MN and caught this great 55 inch Musky. I will get him some mountain hunting gear after college.
