I was outside skinning a doe I shot on Thursday when an outfitter pulled up on his 4 wheeler. He owns a 40 acre parcel adjacent to my property. Said he gut shot a good buck but gave up tracking the deer because he was entering the "sanctuary". The sanctuary is a bedding area on his property. I was a little taken back by the comment since I wouldn't give 2 thoughts about tracking a deer into a bedding area. I'm guessing I'm in the majority here. I just don't get it.

Outfitters seem to always be shady. I've dealt with all kinds. Game wardens have been sitting at the end of my drive. They have been placing a deer out in a CRP field trying to nab road hunters.

I got to know them really well. Had a guy trespassing on me turkey hunting. Neighbor captured his license plate. Worked with game warden to identify all the turkey hero shots taken on my property. He had posted the pics on facebook. Some birds were not tagged. Wardens tracked the guy down and gave him 6 tickets. Guy was on the board for NWTF of all things.

Found this buck 5 days after opening day. We believe that the guy who emptied his auto loader in rapid fashion across the same clearcut I found him in was responsible.....in the open and right off a walkable firebreak...on opening morning.

Drives me nuts how little some people search after the shot...or 5 shots in this case.

He probably told his buddies that he missed a monster.
