Gripe of the day ! A new Hunttalker see's a comment I made about a certain hard to draw limited entry unit. He pm's me for intel because he drew the once in a lifetime tag too. I try to help people out because several Hunttalkers have helped me over the yrs. Randy has even helped me personally. I shared some advice about weather, terrain, hunting pressure etc. He vanishes never to be heard from again. Thank goodness I didn't share specific areas of the unit! He even baited me w promised Intel about a different unit.

This is the first year that I've been on here as much as I have. I have been genuinely surprised how many initial posts asking for information I've seen.

Last year was way worse, I think greenhorn got up to like #25 or something

I've helped quite a few people out with just general information about an area, never to be heard from again. Even tried PMs to ask how their hunt went, no response. I expect they'll log in again in 2-3 years when they draw another tag.

Most have gotten back with me though, even if they don't participate out on the forum.

So true I've had the same experience. But having said that I've had several HT's sure help me out over the years on some great hunts. I always try to return the favor to guys that hang around on here and participate in this great place.

'Not sure why, but the PM's I have sent offering my opinions on Yellowstone Park, the Little Belts, and other hunting related topics have been responded to with much appreciation. Lately, someone got back to me after their trip to Montana to update and thank me for ideas. So fortunately I have not experienced the HT ingratitude aforementioned.

Maybe I have just been able to identify the ones "fishing" selfishly ... not responding to them.

I'm usually more helpful, but this year seemed aweful. So many were first timers who could've made one phone call to fish and game and gotten the answers they wanted. I posted on several threads where the answers were to give them a certain states web page. How dang lazy can you get?

My personal favorite was another Virginia guy offering advise on fishing some of the states streams he guides on in return for phone numbers of ranches. Fair trade if he had reciprocated.

How convenient.. Looks like today is a wonderful day to get scammed! FYI - tickets are a no-go on craigslist. However, i'd rather be out $30 than a year+ of scouting intel..

Assuming that was I who you're referring to that got back to you with much appreciation. Thanks again, BTW! One thing different is, I have been around on this forum for 10 years. (y)
I like helping folks too, but I will hold off on those who come out of the gate asking for intel immediately after the "I drew a tag..." opener!

I'm sure he was referring to me. I asked him some info and he sent me a great response. This was last Thursday I read his response when I was at work and didn't have time to reply at that moment. I came on today to thank him and before I did I looked at the forums and seen this. Trigger sorry for the late response and I'm not the type of guy to leave someone high and dry. I have helpped guys on forums also and appreciate any help I get also. I should have replied sooner.
