The wife and I got away for a couple hours today. C&R'd lots of bass, got some quality perch, a few slab crappie and no trip would be complete if she didn't catch herself a catfish. The fish were holding pretty consistently at 28 ft. and biting light on a vertical presentation. Soon as it cools down I'm setting up the deep fryer out on the deck and let the good times roll.

She caught it on a super light crappie rod with 4lb mono.

I still have never caught a Crappie...but then I fish flies only. Those Crappie ARE slabs.
Trout country isn't all that they make it out to be. Mostly I have to travel for warm water species.

Cooling off & getting a little moisture here Chukar, time for a garage and beer crappie fry...dove & frog butts (my granddaughter's coinage) added for good measure.

Your previous posts inspired my crew to give the lake a try last weekend. Our first Idaho/Oregon catfish. 35-ft deep.

We’ll done. I think a couple of those perch are certifiable jumbos.

Biggest was 13". They're solid like a pipe and the bigger one's pull almost as hard as the bass.

Kind of looks like a flathead. If so, that size is really good eating. Were you on Brownlee?

It was the only flathead we caught. The rest were channel cats in the 1 to 3lb range. Delicious!

Took a friend down to Clarno last night and we finally got another cat. 24" 5.5lbs. No I'm encouraged to try again! Went down end of last week and my Stormy got bit by a rattler. Pretty ugly but healing pretty good now.

Nice cat. Glad Stormy is healing. I worry about that with my blind & deaf Brittany. Killed a rattler a couple weeks ago out by the garden.
