I tore my achilles on last Saturday and just came from the doctor and I am now scheduled for surgery next Monday the 26th. I asked the surgeon about hunting geese in the fields and he was pretty certain that was a bad, bad idea.

So with it shaping up to be a record waterfowl year, I will be on the sidelines watching my kid knock em dead.

Surgeons are sucks. Callin' BS.
fyi - I severed mine. It was repaired. I hunted deer out of tree stands and fished in a cast.
Go knock em dead Nemont.

Kid sets the dekes while you sit in the truck. Kid carries you to blind. It is why you had children in the first place;)

I have a feeling you will be out amongst em.

Torn mine 4 times.

First time the Doc said it was because I was old.

The next time the Doc said it was because I was older.

Third and 4th times I didn't bother going to the Doc, as I could tell I was older.

Luckily none of mine required surgery, but the worst one was a few days before elk season, I had a physical therapist wrap it up and I then proceeded to roam around the mountains with one foot pointing 90 degrees from the other foot.

Rub some dirt on it, and get out there and shoot geese.....

Can I take your place?? In the field not on the cutting board! ;)

Wow, look who you brought out of hiding...

sorry to hear that Nemont, but, I'm betting one day watching from the truck and you will be out in the thick of it the next day!! Good luck. I'm seeing them all over the clover fields here right now. I'm ready if the heat would subside.

Does your Doctor have WSPA and PETA magazines in the waiting room by chance??

I wish you a speedy recovery.

Your doc is being rather conservative. There are ways you can get into the field. Hell I will personally build you a brush blind so you can sit in a chair, set dekes, and call for you. I think you can get in the field by the time the big flights arrive. I have had a few buddies tear their Achilles playing sports and none of them were told to take it that slow during their recovery.

One of these and some netting/brush and your good to go!!!

If you dont hunt this year, waterfowl populations oughta be WAY up next year!

Thanks for the push to get out. I am sure once I get settled in and figure things out that I will figure out a way to get into some geese. Just kind of a crappy time to be going through rehab.

Anyway the surgery will be Monday morning, I was going to be in Bozeman this weekend to help my daughter move but instead I am sending in the B Team and I will be sitting with my leg up in the air.

I may invest in a high end video camera and start taking more video of our hunts this year.

Jose, Good to see you come out of your hiding place.

Heck, at your age you might never fully "recover". Might be time to pass down the shotgun and dekes to the young 'un. Start telling "when I was your age" stories.

Ouch.

I'm with the rest of the fellas - I bet you shoot more than I do this fall. Good luck with the healing process.

Baby boomers invented torn Achilles to mess with you Nemont.;)

Mend quickly.

Good to see you tear yourself away from facebook and mingle with the commons Jose.:)
