My family is in town from Florida and my 6 year old nephew had it put in his
head that Uncle Cliff could take him up Pikes Peak for a hike. Well after being
asked all week long we decided we would give it a go today. I got to say I
didn't think we would get that far but he kept wanting to go higher even when he
wasn't so enthused. He walked most of the way. I had to give him a lift for
maybe a total of .5 miles up towards the top. The last 3 miles broke his spirits
a bit but 8 hrs after our start we hit the summit. Pretty proud of the little guy!

Quite an accomplishment. Not many folks in the USA can say they have climbed the Peak on foot. A day he will remember fore sure.

Super. I can assure you it will stay with him forever. I was pre-teen when my Uncles took me up the first snow capped mountains I had ever seen. I remember every bit about that trip, 38 years later.

Great job.

Wow, that is a great accomplishment for a young man......or a middle aged man.......or an old man. Having walked that trail a few times, I can attest to the fact that it's no small feat. Much less for someone coming from Florida! I'm sure that last .5 was no picnic for you with him in tow. Good job. Memories for a lifetime for sure.

Well done by both of you! That's quite a pull for a young guy. A kid that'll do that at that age will more than likely be quite a success. Lots going right in that story and pics.
