Nice catch!!! but what do you do with them to make them edible?

Those big boys are a blast to catch but man they are a fishy tasting grease ball to deal with. The smaller ones are okay on the grill.

Let's hear some recipes. I have tried grilling, smoking, canning, frying, poaching, you name it.

im going to have them smoked. I've never eaten them before but my brother in law said they weren't too bad......then again he uses way too much hot sauce on his food!

Smoked lake trout is FANTASTIC. Eating trout you caught is even better. Get some of that then warm it, slice some nice cheese, a few grapes and grab a few crackers for a meal fit for royalty. Add in a dark beer if you like living on the edge. I sometimes get a bit of Thousand Island to go with the cheese bites. Enjoy your trout.

Tried smoking some Peck lakers a few months ago and it didn't turn out bad.... But also not good haha

In Lake Michigan, if the salmon aren't biting all we catch is Lakers. They are some good eating!!! :)
