Well time to put hunting season on halt as the truck just limped it's way back into the shop today, I swear if it's not one thing it's another, last summer my head gasket went out on me . I'll take it the truck is 17 years old and something always happenes sooner than later. So got that bad boy fixed did it myself which wasn't fun. A couple days ago check Engine light came on, than started blinking.... Engine misfire great so she is back in the shop and I am worried this one might be costly not to mention on the way over there the engine temperature decided to sky rocket. Great a month from archery opener... Great guess it might be time to look into a different brand

Why?
Next to Toyota , Ford trucks have great life, in my exp.

I guess it's just the little temper tantrum I threw because it's always gotta happen right before hunting season, so just blame it on the brand right? Haha I shouldn't fords have treated me very well just like anything with a few years on it stuff will break/ need fixed

With the exception of lemons, I think cars are one of the few things on the market that actually work. It amazes me what they do and do so well for so long. In fact, I think "the powers that be" have forced, or paid, the auto industry to manufacture reliable products because their no-automobile businesses rely so heavily on our vehicles actually working. Can you imagine what would happen to our economy if our vehicles were as reliable as all the worthless non-automobile shit that other businesses produce? With the exception of guns and cars, most things suck, are poorly engineered, break, etc.

I do lawn and landscape work as well a few other things. Ive owned 3/4 or 1 ton trucks from the big three and now only run Ford trucks in my small fleet. I work the crap out of them pullings loads and pushing snow in the winter and the Fords have given me the least amount of trouble and seem to stand up to my work/ abuse better than others. Everything will give you fits at some time or another. Just part of life- it just never happens at a good time.

ford gas or diesel?hope you don't have a 6.0 powerjoke,,fords worst motor ever made by ih.if its a gas with a engine misfire,i wouldn't think it would need much more than a tune up most likely

Head gasket issue...could be a 6.0

theres no fixing a 6.0 powerjoke except a lot of money to constantly keep pouring in it.if its a gas it has a chance.otherwise I would sell it off.I love my dodge cummins.

Nope she's a gasser, has 161,000 miles and don't get me wrong truck has treated me very well through the years just like anything else it'll wear down and you have to fix some things my boss always tells me that vehicles are just like, relationships something usually needs fixed at some point or another

Consider the timing perfect. It could have broke down the night before you leave for your hunt. You will now have a truck that has less than one month from its last tuneup and that will give you a little bit of time to work out any other bugs that might come up.

forgot about those ol 7.3 powerstrokes,,,sorry bout that,,,but anything 2003-2010 is having a lot of issues,,6.0 and 6.4 not much better,,,havnt heard of any real problems yet with the "new 6.7" but outfit I work for wont chance buying a ford diesel now,,but we now buy a lot of v-10 gassers for our f-550s.we have a large fleet of 6.0 ps diesels and they are junk.

The 6.0 was a big problem. Navistar cost Ford hundreds of millions of dollars and nearly shut down a big portion of the automotive supply business when they sued each other over warranty costs.

The 6.7 is a beast. It would be dang hard to find a mechanic that will say the 6.7 isn't a great motor.

I'm not really a Ford fan, but I haven't owned one enough to really say anything too terrible about them. They just always seem to have sloppy steering and suspension to me. That being said, we had a long bed, full 4-door (before it was real popular) 7.3 powerstroke (1996) that had around 275,000 miles on it that I loved back when I worked for Earth Tech (around 2003). They had it overhauled and ended up getting a new shipment of company trucks in shortly after. They sold it to one of the employees for $6000! I still kick my own butt for not jumping all over that deal.
