Thanks Nut..... My guess is those signs are getting cheaper for Agencies to buy, as the Demand for those signs continues to increase.

Are the Snowmobilers back there not too bright??? It looks like the Snow is in bad enough shape to keep them from going, but they still need a "sign"???

EG, this is the same area that I was hunting that there was plenty of snowmobilers running around regardless. I just happened to notice that they put up BIGGER signs just in case they didnt know they are not allowed. I bet I could get a pic of a snowmobiler this winter going right down that path.

I should have taken a picture of the motorcycle tracks I saw heading right past a "foot and horseback only" sign this weekend.

NUT ,then do it,it's in everyone's best intrest to nail these people to the wall.

I would hope that all of you would get picture's not only of the track's but of the offender's .
That is the only way we can stop the type of person that show's such disrespect.
Give it the same attention you would give it if you saw someone poaching.

Why on earth should we waste time trying to get pictures of the lawbreakers on their machines, and then trying to get pictures of their tow rigs, and then trying to find the Enforcement officers, and then hoping that somebody will go investigate and prosecute???? Remember, it is just a small minority...

It sure seems like it is a lot less effort on my time to take pictures of the damage, and then send letters to the Land Agencies demanding they shut the ATVs down on MY PUBLIC LANDS. And then I write letters for 10 of my friends to sign and mail.

And lo and behold, we can then shut down the entire group of Fat-Assed ATV riders. It is much easier and effective to write letters to shut the ATVs down than to hope a single rider gets a $75 fine.

Nut,
Start taking pictures and writing letters....

I can say that I saw a forest service guy (Or one of them enforcement guys) last year riding on a trail that was closed. I actually didn't mind because he was Patrolling and writing tickets. Said he wrote 5 tickets on the Trail the week before.... FIVE !!! You'd thnk people would think twice about it with his Forest service rig parked at the Fetching Trail head

He did say that is someone is caught riding their machine off the trail on a closed trail and could be braking 14 other laws they only write the Min law and Fine. If they write the $75 ticket they have a Good chance that it sticks. If they write multiple tickets the person recieveing them can File harrassment and Unjust ticket giving (regardless if it's true) and get off of ALL the tickets. I heard it from the enforcements mouth Directly !!!

That being said, If there was a Road that was closed and I had an ATV and a elk down 6 miles back in... I'd breeak the LAw to take the Chance.. whats $75 ? I say Screw the LAw if they don't know how to Fine people. I eat $75 of food on a Sat night going out with the Wife for a Dinner.....

PS, MAybe people didn't see the Sign I saw Hiking out :

that wasn't the Only trail sign either. they had tons !!! And a Gate to go around....

Moosie,

You are typical of everybody.... If you have an ATV, even if you are a law abiding citizen, you will break the law.

Riders don't break the laws, ATV's do... Something about having a throttle in the hand makes people forget to obey the law.

Well, If I don't think I'm hurting the Environment why not ? And to boot, If I get caught, Whats $75 ? thats not 1/4 of my New 800 Polaris monthly payment ;)

There's lots of reasons why not, but you are absolutely correct. The reason has to be either because it "is the right thing to do" like you try and teach your kids, or it is so painful of a penalty if you get caught.

That is why the solution is to get the things banned everywhere, so they aren't even loaded on to the trailers.

Gunner, I'm guessing your lobby to Bann ALL 4-wheelers won't ever come to Fruishion (I don't know how to spell it but it sure sounds cool ;) ).

they are actually cutting a new 4-wheeler trail across the Sawtooth hunting Zome from SH-21 over to Clear Creek. Actually I think it's done. They are cattering to 4-wheelers whether ya like it or not... Although that trai lIS shut down durring hunting season. Yet, motor bikes can ride it ?!?! I don't get it ?

Anyways, Just like Poaching. I personall think they should UP the fines, With the example I gave above , a 475 fine is like filling up the Tank of gas any more. Who cares ?

Maybe the concern is disturbing wildlife in the winter or, since Ohio doesn't get much snow, running over small trees etc. It's not exactly like sledding on top of 4 feet of snow in Idaho. How much of the winter does that state forest have more than one foot of snow covering it?

That rarely happens.

There is another area of the state forest that is for ATV and motorbike use. (I think snowmobiles are allowed also) The trails go all over the place there  .

Hunting is allowed there also, but no game is around to hunt.

I would rather be where I can see game than places where there arent. I have called the office of the state forest and just got "We will check into it". Then the snow melts before they can

Right here NUT. I've been busy riding my ATV and scouting game (all at the same time too)

I see EG has taken the typical: It's not my problem, but I need to bitch attitude/approach.

BTW, IT was right, when the demand for the signs goes up, the price shouldgo up as well. Basic supply and demand in a free market.
:D
