Flying from Houston Texas to Missoula Montana. Recommended airlines

I don’t think you’ll have too many options. :) Whenever I fly to Montana, I use google.com/flights and book the cheapest itinerary that works for me. Enjoy your trip to MT!

United. Both IAH and DEN are United hubs, and you will have to connect regardless, so that gives you the most options in case of irrops (irregular operations). 3 flights a day DEN-MSO and 7-8 daily nonstops between Denver and Houston. Also shorter than via SLC on delta or the more out of the way routings you’ll find with anyone else.

You either have too much free time or are in the industry.:)

Not to hijack the thread, but how would you go about checking your backpack? With expensive and fragile gear I hesitate to simply give them by backpack. Was thinking about possibly just getting a large back, like a hockey bag and putting my backpack inside so that I can lock 1 zipper and not 50.. Then carrying on range finder, optics, etc.. Curious what your thoughts/experience is?

Cheep amazon duffle bag. Don't bother with locks, it just gets their interest. If it's expensive or fragile, carry on.

Put your pack in a cooler, and lock it. As long as you are under weight you should be fine. It’ll also protect it. Carry on your spotter and glass, or just make sure they are packed really well.

Then, you’re basically getting a cooler and pack to Montana for the price of one bag. If you get lucky you’re going to need the cooler anyway.
