Hey all,
Theres almost a 100 percent chance of me going to school in Flagstaff next fall. Now I know there is a lot of you from AZ here, so I was wondering who migh live in Flagstaff or close by? Also what would be my chances of being able to get in the hills with my camera and take pics of some good bull elk(and mulies too)? Just trying to find out some details so this country boy doesn't feel homesick.

Ernesto, I went to school in Flagstaff for a few years. I now live just down the hill in Cottonwood. You'll have plenty of chances to photograph all sorts of animals around Flagstaff. You'll be right in the heart of some of the best elk genetics in N. America. Shoot me an email anytime when you get here ([email protected]).................Stan

Stan, don't lie to this man. Lots of people will want to come. WDH, forget about game pictures in Arizona. It's nothing but cactus and desert. (Did all you guys hear that.. ?) Just cactus and desert and snakes and lizards and horn toads and gila monsters. Lots of horn toads in Flagstaff.

These were taken about three miles from the airport just off of a forest service road. We were walking back to the truck after a short hike.

There are lots of critters to photograph up there.

Awesome pics Danr...Ernesto you will love it at NAU.....You are pretty much right in the middle of "critter country" and we will look forword to your pic`s...Good Luck.

COOL thanks everyone! I was hoping I would be close to some critters. From the posts it sounds like there is a lot of public land? Nice bull too Danr55! I got the equipment to take some good pics, i just need some bulls like that to stand still for me.

How far away from the "strip" will I be?

Can't wait to see a 400 class bull ;) ;)

Also is there like any OTC non resident tags that I could buy? Archery maybe? Coues deer?

Wyo, I live in Flagstaff and it is great here. The only thing you will have to deal with are all the "green" people in town.
Lots of elk, if you want pics, I can help you out on some spots.
Archery deer is OTC and is open the whole month of January, 2 weeks in August/September and 2 weeks in December. But, you can only kill 1 deer per year.
The 'strip' will still be about 5 hours away..........you have to go into Utah to get to it. but, there is no archery deer hunt in 13B.
$00 class bulls are not as common as people make them sound like, but they are there.

Thanks for the info bowhuntinmaniac!

I know how those 400 class bulls are rare, maybe I'll get lucky and snap a pic of one. Heck I would take a pic of a 375 class bull.

Is the archery deer muley or coues?

Flagstaff has become a pretty sweet college town..you're going to love it. Enjoy your time there and have fun!

I think the archery hunts are any antlered deer however the dec and jan hunts are only in the southern desert units.

danr--nice pics

Actually there are lots of Dec/Jan OTC archery hunts near by Flagstaff."10,21,22,18a,b" etc.... All within reasonable driving distance from Flag.........
