Picked up my first mount from the taxidermist today. I was so worried about the weather, and fitting my bull in the back of my truck with its 5.5 foot bed.
My best friend was also picking up his archery moose. After a 4 hr drive we got both heads loaded up (the elk fit with less than an inch to spare).
The drive home was uneventful, and we immediately set to work hanging the moose mount. No problems there, and it looked great. My elk on the other hand was a challenge with our 8 ft ceilings. After a lot of cussing and thinking he would be banished to the garage, we did some rearranging, did a quick score of the elk, and got him hung up inside where he would be safe from the dogs.
Their reaction to the newcomer was one of Holy Crap! What the heck is that thing? Is he a threat? Lots of barking from our newest member of the dog clan. Lots of laughter on our part. Life is good.
If you need a good taxidermist in Wyoming, Kims Art Wild in Lander would be tough to beat. Great work and we got our stuff back in just under 9 months.
