Just heard about HuntTalk, started the podcast from the beginning the other day and was able to get away and come over here to check it out. I've perused a bit but thought I'd post this up here.

So that is it. I've been doing some hiking and more then anything I've lost 30+ pounds this year to prepare. I have 2 more months and I'm hoping to shed another 15-20 pounds and be as close too 200 as I can for when we start out. September 30th we will be hiking in roughly 15 miles, opening day for the archery hunt is October 1st and we have taken off the 30th-11th - season is 10/1 to 10/10. Any advice and help is appreciated. Thanks for looking and the help!

Welcome aboard! Been to your town twice! Won't make it up there next week, staying right around the cabin farther south. Good luck!

Thanks!! I'm planning on going out after a Caribou this weekend up here and then a Moose in September as my warm up. Stay safe and hope you have a good harvest as well.

Working on our property but plan on fishing as much as time allows! Don't know if I want to spend the money for a small game license just for a few days after grouse.

Not sure what’s in your first aid kit as I didn’t see an attached pic, but I’d recommend a tourniquet, quickclot, and anti diarrheal tablets if you don’t have them already.

Also consider:
A field v-sharpener is lighter than a strop
Small multi tool to service bow
Duct tape AND electrical tape
Ziplock freezer bags in 1q, 4q, and 8q to separate and waterproof your gear. Can cut weight from excessive dry bags
Skip the book and download an ebook
Skip the nalgene and add another 3q platypus
Skip saw
Are you willing to have your trip end if you shoot a bear?
A pair of handkerchiefs for washing up
Nitrile gloves for field butchering
Needle and thread
Pocket Sun reflector and orange whistle for emergency rescue

Welcome and good luck!
