First hunt

So, this weekend I took my daughter on her first ever hunt. We were chasing turkeys in the mountains of NM during their youth only weekend.

During our 2 day hunt we managed to call in 3 birds. My daughter couldn't close the deal but had a great time and learned alot in the process.

We will try to get back up there soon.

We'll be headed up to the mountains again this weekend for a day hunt. Report early next week.

It sure is fun to get them out. I took my buddies boy the last two mornings for the 2 hours I could sneak out before work. I called in 4 long beards on two set ups yesterday and we came home empty handed. LOL All within 15 yards. He has learned how important it is to not even blink let's just say. Hahahaha

Took my daughter out again this weekend to chase turkeys. General season is now open so more people in the woods. We did not see or hear any turkeys this time but still had a good time and enjoyed being outdoors.

Took a break form chasing birds this weekend. Instead, the whole family went up to the forest to hike and spend time in the outdoors.

My daughter and I will be back turkey hunting in a couple of days. Maybe the birds will cooperate this time

Went back to the forest this weekend with my daughter. On sunday morning we had a tom gobble a few times before he gave us the slip. Also has some responses from hens. No turkey.... we'll be back next weekend. Season closes on Sunday.

Went back up to the mountains for the last weekend of turkey season in NM. Saturday evening we had a tom gobble back at our call but never came in. We came up with a plan to return the following morning but that did not take place since we had to return home. We still had a great time, spent some quality father/daughter time and learned a lot in the process. We will be returning next year. Thanks for following along.
