Well, I figure it's time to share this. I have been on and off here over the last few months, but not as much as I'd like. I've been running all over WY and MT working on getting all of our upcoming NWTF banquets ready.
But, I thought you might enjoy the pictures of my now fiances first ever elk kill. 20 yard shot, bull went 75, and done. Day 2 of our 2nd year hunting here in MT. I'd say she's pretty darn lucky as this is only her 2nd big game kill. Her first was a 145" KS whitetail, also with her bow. We hiked in 2 miles to set camp in the mid Sept snow storm that came in. She arrowed this guy 2 more miles, and 2 nasty drainages further. From the time we left camp the day she killed this bull, til we got back to the truck with that last load of meat, we had gone 26 miles over 3 days....... Needless to say, I feel like us flatlanders originally from KS at least earned this one.....
Also, I'm not sure if he is on here, but I still owe a very nice fella that was camping by our truck a few Costco burgers, and some grape juice. To us, at 1am after the second load, that was a 5 course meal! I also owe him a rope that he used to tie one of my coolers up that we had to leave there for a bit....... Can't thank him enough!
6X6; rough scored him at 325", but the 250lbs of meat we hauled out and put in our freezer, plus memories to last a lifetime, are the real trophies......
Enjoy!
